Sean Bougie is an Indigenous (Montreal Lake Cree Nation) classical guitarist from Edmonton, Alberta who has been playing for over 20 years. This long history with the instrument has allowed Sean to curate an interesting collection of classical guitar repertoire to perform at various festivals, private events, and community gatherings around Western Canada. Sean's performances make jaws drop, hearts flutter, and minds wander. His music inspires a sense of nostalgia and captivates the listener's soul. After performing in a rock band named Witherfire, Sean completed his Bachelor's of Music: Individualised at the University of Saskatchewan in 2022, where he discovered his ability in classical guitar. He is currently in his final year as a graduate student at the University of Saskatchewan where he is writing a Master of Arts: Musicology thesis. Sean has taught music for over ten years, and has educated and inspired hundreds of students in the discipline of guitar. Currently, Sean is teaching at Dominelli's School of Music. He has played multiple events and festivals around Western Canada including the Saskatoon Fringe Festival, the Haywire Farm Festival, and the Sasktel Saskatchewan Jazz Festival. Sean was nominated twice for the Saskatchewan Indigenous Music Association Awards and once for the Saskatchewan Music Awards. In 2025, he was awarded both Best Instrumental or Ambient Artist for the Saskatchewan Music Awards and Instrumentalist of the Year for the Saskatchewan Indigenous Music Association Awards.
